Former Chitipa United FC goalkeeper, George Chikooka, moved to Silver Strikers on Monday for an undisclosed fee. He had been with Chitipa United since 2018.
At the same time, forward Binwel Katinji rejoined Silver Strikers on a two-year deal. Katinji first joined the team in 2016 but left in 2018 to play for Malanti Chiefs in Eswatini before returning to Malawi to play for Civil Service United.
During the 2023 season with Civil Service United, Katinji scored 11 goals, just four short of being the league's top goal scorer.
Chikooka, who previously played for Baka City before joining Chitipa United, signed a three-year deal with Silver Strikers.
Chikooka, who was close to having the most clean sheets (13) last season, expressed his happiness about joining Silver Strikers. He sees it as a sign of his growth as a player.
According to a statement released by the Central bankers,Katinji explained that he didn't hesitate to return to Silver Strikers because he felt he had unfinished business there. He's determined to work hard and succeed with the team.
