In the wake of recent incidents of vandalism surrounding Wanderers supporters, club chairman Thom Mpinganjira has issued a call for peaceful conduct amongst fans. Concerns have arisen over the behavior of some supporters, leading to damages and disturbances at various matches.
Mpinganjira, known for his dedication to fostering a positive fan culture, emphasized the importance of supporting the team without resorting to destructive behavior. In a video going viral on social media Mpinganjira said Times 360 "We appreciate the passion of our supporters, but it's crucial that this passion is channeled constructively," he stated. "Vandalism not only tarnishes the reputation of the club but also undermines the spirit of sportsmanship we aim to uphold."
The chairman's plea comes amidst reports of fines being levied against individuals found guilty of vandalism. The club, in collaboration with local authorities, has implemented measures to identify and penalize those responsible for destructive acts during matches.
"We want to create a welcoming and safe environment for all fans, players, and officials," Mpinganjira affirmed. "We urge our supporters to embrace the values of respect and sportsmanship, ensuring that the Wanderers legacy remains untarnished."
