Airtel Malawi, who sponsors the Airtel Top 8 Cup, hasn't decided yet if they will continue supporting the tournament. During an award ceremony at Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre, Charles Kamoto, the managing director of Airtel Malawi, said they are still discussing whether to renew their contract with the Football Association of Malawi (FAM). He mentioned that they attended the event only for the awards, not for contract talks.
Kamoto added that they have been in talks with FAM about a new deal, but he couldn't say much at the moment. He mentioned that they'll provide more information on another day. The recent edition of the tournament faced delays due to violence during a match between Silver Strikers and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers, which resulted in damage to seats at the Bingu National Stadium. Airtel's contract with FAM, which lasted for six years, expired in December 2023.
