"Paris Media Consultancy to Launch Volleyball Tournament at MIJ"




Malawi Institute of Journalism of Journalism has introduced a new volleyball trophy, the Paris Volleyball Tournament, to promote the sport and foster a spirit of competition among students. The tournament is in set to begin on May 15, 2024, and will feature teams from various departments within the institution.

The winners of the Paris Volleyball Tournament will receive a cash prize of K500,000, while the runners-up will receive K250,000. The tournament is sponsored by Paris Media consultancy, a leading Consultancy company.

The trophy is named after the owner of the consultancy.The tournament will be played on a round-robin basis, with the top two teams competing in the final match.

The introduction of the Paris Volleyball Tournament is aimed at promoting volleyball as a popular sport among students and encouraging teamwork, discipline, and fair play. The tournament is expected to be an annual event, with the first edition kicking off on May 15, 2024.

Speaking to Sports Blitz,Muta said "We are excited to introduce the Paris Volleyball Tournament to our students, "Volleyball is a popular sport globally, and we believe this tournament will not only promote the sport but also foster a sense of community and competition among our students."

The tournament is open to all students at MIJ, and teams are encouraged to register by May 10, 2024, to participate in the inaugural edition of the Paris Volleyball Tournament.

Premier Bet and Dedza Dynamos FC Seal Major Sponsorship Deal;

Premier Bet Malawi and Dedza Dynamos FC have struck a big deal! Premier Bet will give Dedza Dynamos FC MK100 million for one year. If both parties like it, they can extend the deal. The signing happened on Tuesday at Premier Bet's place in Limbe, Blantyre.

Now, Dedza Dynamos Fc will be known as Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos FC.

As part of the deal, Premier Bet will give MK100,000 to the best player each month until the season ends. The player of the year will get a whopping MK500,000! Fans aren't left out either. The fan player of the year will also pocket MK500,000, while the supporter of the year will walk away with MK200,000.

It's a big win for both Premier Bet Malawi and Dedza Dynamos FC.

Tabitha Wins Womens Player of the Season Award in France

Malawian football star Tabitha Chawinga has been named Women's Player of the Season in the French Arkema Women's First Division. This prestigious award comes after her similar accolades in Italy's Feminine Serie A last year, Chinese Women's Super League in 2018 and 2019, and the Swedish Dammallsvenskan in 2017.

The 27-year-old prolific forward, currently on a season-long loan deal from Chinese Super League outfit Wuhan Jiangda, expressed her excitement and gratitude for the award. She attributed her success to her hard work, determination, and faith, citing God as her source of inspiration and strength.

Tabitha dedicated her award to the nation, acknowledging the immense support she has received from Malawians and her family. National Women's Football Association chairperson Adellaide Migogo praised Tabitha, saying she has cemented her status as one of the world's best women footballers. Migogo noted that Tabitha's achievements are a testament to her dedication and passion, making her a role model for the girl child.

Despite her success, Tabitha recently expressed frustration on social media after her team's Uefa Champions League exit. She confessed that she had considered quitting football due to her intense dislike of losing. However, she is now focused on the upcoming Coupe de France final this Saturday.

Tabitha is also nominated for the Cosafa Women's Footballer of the Year Award alongside Zambian duo Rachael Kundananji and Barbara Banda. Her ultimate goal remains winning the Ballon d'Or, which she believes is achievable with continued hard work and determination.

"Goalless Draw for Nomads"



Bangwe All Stars faced off against Mighty Mukuru Wanderers Fc in a tightly contested match at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre, which ended in a goalless draw. Wanderers, aiming for the top spot in the TNM Super League standings, were unable to find the back of the net despite their efforts, resulting in a shared point after 90 minutes of play.

Meanwhile, at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe, Kamuzu Barracks demonstrated their prowess with a 2-1 victory over Civo Sporting Club. KB asserted dominance early on, securing two goals in the first half courtesy of Olson Kanjira and Zeliat Nkhoma, the latter converting from a penalty kick. Although Civo Sporting Club managed to score a goal, their efforts were not enough to overturn the deficit.

In other league matches, Karonga United emerged victorious with a 3-1 win against Tigers, while Moyale and Dedza Dynamos played out a goalless draw.

On another front, Nyasa Big Bullets, the rivals of Nomads, clinched a remarkable 2-1 comeback victory against Baka FC. New Leadership at Bangwe All Stars




There has been a change in leadership at Bangwe all start football club. Mapopa Msukwa, a former MDC United striker, is stepping in as the interim head coach, taking over from Christopher Nyambose

The club officially announced Msukwa's new role in a statement released on Thursday. Nyambose made the decision to step down from his position earlier this week. It's been a tough season for Bangwe All Stars so far, as they haven't managed to win any games yet. They're currently at the bottom of the standings with only one point from three games.

Msukwa's first big task as the interim head coach will be leading the team against Mighty Mukuru Wanderers at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre this coming Sunday. It's a crucial match, and everyone will be watching to see how the team performs under their new leadership.

"TNM Super League Gets Massive Support"




TNM plc, the proud sponsor of the TNM Super League, is making big news tonight in Blantyre. They're increasing their support by a lot! They're now giving K500 million to the league, which is a huge jump of 233.33 percent from before.

According to Nation Publications Limited This increase shows how much TNM cares about football in Malawi. It's not just about the big teams; it's about helping football grow all over the country.

The most exciting part of this news is the bigger prizes for the winners. The champion team will now get K100 million, up from K40 million before. That's a 150 percent increase. This is a huge motivation for teams to do their best and make the league even more competitive.

But it's not just the winners who benefit. The second-placed team will now get K40 million instead of K15 million. Even the third-placed team will get more, with K15 million as their prize.

TNM plc is also giving each team in the league K10 million to help them out. This extra money can go towards training, equipment, or anything else the teams need to improve.

"Mukuru Wanderers Triumph in Second Victory at Kamuzu Stadium"

Today ,Mighty Mukuru Wanderers Football club won their second match at the county's main soccer stadium, Kamuzu Stadium. They defeated the newly promoted team, Creck Sporting Club, with a score of 3-0 in favor of Wanderers FC.This has made the Nomads to be on top of  the Tnm super league log table.

The game started with Former captain Stanley Sanudi scoring the first goal from a penalty kick after one of the Wanderers players was fouled in the penalty box. Jaccama Kumwembe and Gaddie Chirwa each scored one goal, securing the victory for their team.

In other matches, Kamuzu Barracks played against FOMO FC at Civo Stadium and won 3-1. Moyale Football Club faced Civo Service United at Mzuzu Stadium, winning 3-0. Baka FC hosted Mafco FC at Karonga Stadium, and the game ended in a goalless draw.

Overall, it was a successful day for soccer in the county, with exciting matches and victories for several teams.

"Action Packed Matches"




In today'sTNM super league matches, Silver Strikers won 3-1 against Bangwe All Stars at Silver Stadium. Binwell Katinji scored a goal at 52 minutes into the game. Adiel Kaduya followed with another goal at 62 minutes, and Charles Chipala sealed the victory with a goal at 81 minutes.

Creck FC managed to secure a narrow victory against Moyale with a score of 3-2. Babangida Ishaya scored twice at 35 and 82 and George Chaomba added another goal at 67'. Prince Phiri scored for Moyale at 52 and also benefited from an own goal by Aaron Chilipa.

Chitipa United dominated their match against Karonga United, winning 4-1. Ramadhan Ntafu scored a hat-trick with goals at 9', 23', and 53', while Blessings Mwalilino added another goal at 81'. Stimella Muyira scored the lone goal for Karonga United at 54'.

FOMO suffered a defeat against Mighty Mukuru Wanderers with a score of 0-3. Felix Zulu, Wisdom Mpinganjira, and Peter Cholopi scored for Mighty Mukuru Wanderers at 51', 52', and 55' respectively.

Defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets faced another setback with a goalless draw against Mighty Tigers at Kamuzu Stadium yesterday. This draw follows their previous 1-1 draw against Dedza Dynamos in the opening match last week.

Mzuzu City Hammers continued their perfect run with a 2-1 victory over Baka City at Mzuzu Stadium.

In other matches, Civil Service United defeated Dedza Dynamos 3-0 at Civo Stadium, with goals from Kelvin Kadzinje, Muhammad Biason, and Emmanuel Saviel. Meanwhile, Mafco and Kamuzu Barracks settled for a 1-1 draw at Chitowe Stadium.

"Silver Strikers Prepare for Challenging Encounter with Bangwe All Star"

Silver Strikers Football Club Head Coach, Peter Mponda, shared his thoughts ahead of their upcoming clash against Bangwe All Stars in the TMM Super League. Scheduled for Sunday at the Silver Stadium in Lilongwe, the match promises to be a test of skill and strategy for both sides.

Mponda said, "It's going to be a tough game because Bangwe All Stars is a strong team with a good squad this season. We played them in preseason, and it was a tough match. They have players who are good with the ball and solid defense. But I trust my team to break through their defense."


 
Bangwe All Stars football club lost their first TNM super league game against FOMO FC, a team that just joined the topflight league at Mulanje park stadium. Coach Mponda thinks Bangwe All Stars will come into this game wanting to win badly. On the other hand, Silver Strikers FC won their previous game against Chitipa United FC, which boosted their confidence. They also have the advantage of playing at home.

Malawi’s Tabitha Chawinga Nominated for 2023 COSAFA Women’s Footballer of the Year



Exciting news is buzzing in the world of sports as Malawi’s Women's National Football Team and Paris Saint-Germain striker, Tabitha Chawinga, has been nominated for the 2023 COSAFA Women's Footballer of the Year award. 

Tabitha will be up against tough competition from Zambian stars Barbara Banda and Rachael Kundananji in the race for this inaugural award.

She made history while playing for Inter Milan Women by winning the Italian Golden Boot award.She scored an incredible 23 goals in just 21 matches.

Tabitha has also kicked off her career with Paris Saint-Germain on a high note. In the French League, she’s leading the pack as the top goal scorer with an impressive 17 goals. On top of that,she has shown her skills on the international stage by scoring four goals in the UEFA Women's Champions League.

Mzuzu City Hammers Secures K30 Million Sponsorship Deal with Betika

Mzuzu City Hammers, formerly known as Ekwendeni Hammers, has signed a lucrative sponsorship deal with Betika worth K30 million. The funds have been utilized to purchase the team's jerseys for the current season.

As part of the agreement, Betika will pay K200,000 to the player of the month throughout the season. During the contract signing ceremony, Betika's CEO, Gift Govati, emphasized the company's commitment to supporting the development of football in Malawi.

The Chairperson of the Mzuzu City Hammers committee expressed the team's excitement about the sponsorship, stating that it will foster healthy competition among players and enhance their performance in the elite league and other competitions.

As a result of the partnership, Mzuzu City Hammers will don jerseys featuring the Betika logo and the company's name on the front of their shirts. During the signing ceremony, the team sold replica jerseys, with Gilbert Mitawa Sulumo, the president, purchasing one for K500.

This sponsorship deal marks a significant milestone for Mzuzu City Hammers and is expected to contribute to the team's success in the upcoming season.

Tnm Super League Teams Fight for Top Spot


The 2024 TNM Super League season began on Saturday with FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, the defending champions, playing against Dedza Dynamos at Dedza Stadium. The game ended in a 1-1 draw, with Ephraim Kondowe scoring for Nyasa Big Bullets in the 37th minute and Promise Kamwendo equalizing for Dedza Dynamos in the 62nd minute. Donex Mwakasinga was named the man of the match.

In other matches, Silver Strikers Fc defeated Chitipa United 2-0 at Silver Stadium, with goals from Adiel Kaduya and Binwel Katinji. Moyale Barracks also secured a victory in their first game of the season against Mafco, winning 2-1 at Mzuzu Stadium.
