Malawian football star Tabitha Chawinga has been named Women's Player of the Season in the French Arkema Women's First Division. This prestigious award comes after her similar accolades in Italy's Feminine Serie A last year, Chinese Women's Super League in 2018 and 2019, and the Swedish Dammallsvenskan in 2017.

The 27-year-old prolific forward, currently on a season-long loan deal from Chinese Super League outfit Wuhan Jiangda, expressed her excitement and gratitude for the award. She attributed her success to her hard work, determination, and faith, citing God as her source of inspiration and strength.

Tabitha dedicated her award to the nation, acknowledging the immense support she has received from Malawians and her family. National Women's Football Association chairperson Adellaide Migogo praised Tabitha, saying she has cemented her status as one of the world's best women footballers. Migogo noted that Tabitha's achievements are a testament to her dedication and passion, making her a role model for the girl child.

Despite her success, Tabitha recently expressed frustration on social media after her team's Uefa Champions League exit. She confessed that she had considered quitting football due to her intense dislike of losing. However, she is now focused on the upcoming Coupe de France final this Saturday.

Tabitha is also nominated for the Cosafa Women's Footballer of the Year Award alongside Zambian duo Rachael Kundananji and Barbara Banda. Her ultimate goal remains winning the Ballon d'Or, which she believes is achievable with continued hard work and determination.
