Bullets Prepare for 2024 Season with Mponela Pre-Season Matches

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets are getting ready for the 2024 season by organizing training matches at Champion Stadium in Mponela, Dowa District. They plan to play two matches on March 9 and 10 as part of their preparation.

Speaking with the Sports Blitz,Albert Chigoga, the Bullets Chief Administrative Officer, mentioned that before heading to Mponela, the team will first undergo camp training in Mangochi. Champion Stadium owner, Msaiwale Kabvina, expressed excitement about hosting the matches and stated that they requested Bullets to play at their facility as they gear up to host more TNM Super League matches in the upcoming season. The matches will feature Bullets against Kalembelembe FC on March 9 and Chatoloma Admarc on March 10.

Will Airtel Continue Supporting Airtel Top 8 Cup?

Airtel Malawi, who sponsors the Airtel Top 8 Cup, hasn't decided yet if they will continue supporting the tournament. During an award ceremony at Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre, Charles Kamoto, the managing director of Airtel Malawi, said they are still discussing whether to renew their contract with the Football Association of Malawi (FAM). He mentioned that they attended the event only for the awards, not for contract talks.

Kamoto added that they have been in talks with FAM about a new deal, but he couldn't say much at the moment. He mentioned that they'll provide more information on another day. The recent edition of the tournament faced delays due to violence during a match between Silver Strikers and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers, which resulted in damage to seats at the Bingu National Stadium. Airtel's contract with FAM, which lasted for six years, expired in December 2023.

Lanjesi Nkhoma won two awards at the Airtel Top 8 Season 6 Awards held at Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre. He was named the Airtel Top 8 Player of the Season and also received the top goal scorer award. FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, the tournament winners, received their prize cheque, with their CEO Suzgo Nyirenda accepting it along with the tournament trophy. MAFCO FC was named the runners-up of the tournament.

In the media category, Foster Mkwamba was announced as the best radio journalist, while Frank Kandu was the runner-up. Other winners included Bobby Kabango for Best Photography Journalist and Garry Chirwa for Best Print Journalist. Cane Chilapondwa won the Best Online Journalist award.

Makawa Secures Three-Year Deal with Civil Service United FC

Civil Service United Football Club has given their caretaker coach Abbas Makawa a contract for three years, depending on how well he does. Edgar Chipalanjira from Civo GS said it's confirmed.

According to the post on Civo's Facebook page,Makawa who helped the team avoid being moved to a lower division, will have Wilson Chidati as his assistant. Chidati still has two years left on his contract. The other staff in the technical group will stay the same.

Fundraiser For Local Football Club



Tonight, Bangwe All Stars football club is hosting a fundraising dinner and dance at Golden Peacock in Blantyre. It starts at 6:30 PM and ends at 10:30 PM. The tickets cost K25,000 for individuals and K40,000 per couple. Coral Paints Malawi is the main sponsor of this event.

According to the statement on Bangwe's Facebook page,the aim of the event is to raise money for the team before the new season starts on March 30, 2024. The season begins with a charity shield match between FCB Nyasa Big and Silver Strikers. There will be performances by Skeffa Chimoto, Gibo Pearson, and the Chichiri Cultural Troop.

Chikooka And Katinji to Silver Strikers

Former Chitipa United FC goalkeeper, George Chikooka, moved to Silver Strikers on Monday for an undisclosed fee. He had been with Chitipa United since 2018.

At the same time, forward Binwel Katinji rejoined Silver Strikers on a two-year deal. Katinji first joined the team in 2016 but left in 2018 to play for Malanti Chiefs in Eswatini before returning to Malawi to play for Civil Service United.

During the 2023 season with Civil Service United, Katinji scored 11 goals, just four short of being the league's top goal scorer.
Chikooka, who previously played for Baka City before joining Chitipa United, signed a three-year deal with Silver Strikers.

Chikooka, who was close to having the most clean sheets (13) last season, expressed his happiness about joining Silver Strikers. He sees it as a sign of his growth as a player.

According to a statement released by the Central bankers,Katinji explained that he didn't hesitate to return to Silver Strikers because he felt he had unfinished business there. He's determined to work hard and succeed with the team.

KB To Start Training On February 12th

The trials that began on Monday February 5th and ended on Friday, February 9th have now been
completed by Kamuzu Barracks.
The technical panel led by Alick Chirwa,has selected 19 players for the team following a successful trial period.

According to a statement released by Kamuzu Barracks on their Facebook page, Mr Chirwa commented that as Kamuzu Barracks,they are pleased with the talent they have uncovered during the trials.He also added that there is healthy competition for places in all areas of the team.

Chirwa also said that training will begin on Monday February 12th,and they will focus on conditioning the players and integrating them with the existing squad.

Super Eagles To The Finals

Nigeria reached the final of the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast by beating South Africa 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in 120 minutes on Wednesday.

Troost-Ekong scored for Nigeria in the 54th minute after Victor Osimhen was fouled in the box. Osimhen thought he had scored again in the 84th minute, but VAR ruled it out. South Africa then scored a penalty in the 87th minute.

Mundau missed a chance for South Africa in the 94th minute. After extra time, the match went to penalties.

Nigeria missed one Penaltywhile two South Africans missed. The Eagles will face the  host Ivory Coast in the final after they beat DRC 1:0 .

The last time Nigeria won the trophy was in 2013 in South Africa, beating Burkina Faso 1-0 in the final.

The executive committee of the Blue Eagles Football Club has been officially dissolved, effective immediately.Wa ganyu The club's officials have been instructed to cease all activities and hand over all responsibilities by February 16th.

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) is hosting a workshop for the teams that will compete in the 2024 TNM Super League.Football Association of Malawi The workshop is taking place at the Mpira Village in Blantyre, Malawi.

The main purpose of the workshop is to educate the teams on the new club licensing regulations and how to use the Transfer Matching System (TMS) and the Club Licensing Online Platform (CLOP).

The workshop is also meant to remind the teams of the importance of following the club licensing regulations. Every team is being represented by two officials who will receive the necessary training and information about the new regulations.

This workshop is an important step in ensuring that all teams are aware of the new rules and regulations and are able to comply with them. The aim is to create a level playing field and to improve the quality of football in Malawi.

Kamuzu Barracks FC has announced the departure of three players from its roster: defender Mathews Zaulombo, winger Thoko Harrison, and midfielder Nelson Kangunje. In the wake of recent incidents of vandalism surrounding Wanderers supporters, club chairman Thom Mpinganjira has issued a call for peaceful conduct amongst fans. Concerns have arisen over the behavior of some supporters, leading to damages and disturbances at various matches.

Mpinganjira, known for his dedication to fostering a positive fan culture, emphasized the importance of supporting the team without resorting to destructive behavior. Dedza Dynamos, a football club from Malawi, is delighted to announce the appointment of Andrew Bunya as their new head coach. According to the statement released by Dedza dynamos football club on their Facebook page,Bunya's appointment was confirmed by the club's Technical Director, Massa Kalamula, on Thursday.

Bunya, 44, takes over from the previous coach, Gilbert Chirwa, whose contract expired in December. Bunya is an experienced coach who had previously led Extreme FC to promotion to the Malawi Premier Division. He is also the head coach of the Dedza Youth select team under the Dedza district youth football committee. When asked about his appointment, Bunya said, "I am very excited to be joining Dedza Dynamos. They are a club with a lot of potential and fantastic people. I look forward to working with the team and helping them achieve their goals. I know the team has high standards and I am ready to meet those standards, "he said.Dedza Dynamos

Massa Kalamula, the Technical Director, said the decision to appoint Bunya was based on his understanding of the club's culture and values. "He is from Dedza and knows what we stand for as a club," said Kalamula. "We believe he is the right person to lead the team forward."
